Ekijin (God of Pestilence) Syndrome is a disease that manifests paranormal abilities in an individual that eventually leads to death. The cause is completely unknown, and the only remedy is symptomatic therapy. Your family, friends, or even you can be suddenly infected and become the grim reaper itself. However, there are people who resist and fight against that hopeless disease. They are the Treatment Execution Organization's specialty division, "Ekijin Corps." The youthful Yuta has been wandering Japan in search of mermaids not to become immortal, but to break his curse of eternal life. Over five hundred years ago, he ate a mermaid; now, Yuta is in search of a cure, hoping the mermaids know the secret. When he stumbles upon a hidden village, he quickly learns that it is full of mermaids that live in an underground society centered around the murder and cultivation of young human women to maintain their own youth and immortality. Their most recent victim, Mana, is given the flesh of a mermaid to eat in order to fulfill the recipe toward being a perfect candidate to be eaten. Yuta helps her escape, and they find themselves on a journey to live their lives as normal as they can.

One of Go Nagai's first works, this violent period piece takes place in the 1500s and stars a talented low ranking ninja named Shishimaru. In it, Shishimaru fights against Ginnai Doma (an immortal samurai who, despite being butchered multiple times, doesn't die) because Ginnai murdered his comrades. Soji Mitsuka is an ordinary high school boy who has an obsession for twintails. One day he encounters a mysterious girl named Twoearle, who is from a parallel world, when monsters appear in his town and declare that all twintails in the world belong to them.
