Heureka is a manga set in antiquity, during the Second Punic War between the small city state of Syracuse and the Roman Empire. The comic is based around the life and times of the famous mathematician Archimedes. Archimedes was not only a gifted mathematician but also an engineer of repute. During the conflict with the Romans, Archimedes was supposedly responsible for creating a number of war machines that devastated the Roman legions before they eventually got the upper hand. The exact nature and use of these devices is controversial, and exists more in the realm of legend than actual historical fact.

A spin-off work starring Kamui, one of the main characters of Kamui-den. The first 2 volumes were published in a Shounen magazine and ended with the 20th chapter in 1971. The manga changed art style and direction when it switched to a Seinen publication in 1988. One of the first Super Robot manga and the one that introduced most of the traits of the Mecha genre. Constructed with the Super-Alloy Z, Mazinger was built by Professor Juzo Kabuto as a weapon against the Mechanical Beasts of the evil Dr. Hell. Koji Kabuto, the grandson of Professor Kabuto, becomes the pilot of Mazinger Z when his grandfather is killed, and battles from there on against Dr. Hell and his allies. This is the first series that introduced the concept of a pilot inside a Mecha, which all series from then on have followed. **Note: the scanlation uses Kodansha version which altered the chapters order, includes TV Magazine chapters, some pages were altered(like redesigns for Sayaka, Professor Yumi and Brocken) and there's missing pages, the missing chapters of Shonen Jump serialization along with some TV Magazine chapters were moved to Great Mazinger volume 1.**

It's a shame that not everyone will find the subjects the author describes equally appealing since some of them are distinctly Japanese. It is the 21st century, and technology has progressed further than humanity itself could imagine. 2003, Tobio, the son of the head of the Ministry of Science, is killed in an accident. Mad from his grief, his father, Dr. Tenma, orders immediately the construction of a new, robot Tobio - a child of science. While initially delighted at seeing his son reborn, gradually Tenma grew fed up at the fact that this new Tobio could not age and grow. In this newfound frustration, he sold him off to a robot circus. There 'Tobio' was given the new name Atom (Astro Boy). Later, he would be taken in by Professor Ochanomizu, who serves as his guardian. Human-robot conflict occurs over and over again, and is a major driving force. Atom never gets appreciation for his work in stopping plots and conspiracies on the international and even intergalactic scale solely because he is a robot. The authorities doubt him because he is a robot. And as a robot, he has difficulty fully connecting with not just the humans around him (like his school friends), but even his robot family. Atom's serialization was unfinished, as the magazine it was in ceased publication. While there was content for Atom after this, the narrative never properly concluded.
