Kate refused to become a prostitute and ran away. Then, she met the kidnapped Earl's daughter and was taken to the kidnapper's den. Feeling a bad atmosphere, and despite Rose's dissuasion, Kate risked her life to escape, and it led to Rose's rescue. Rose pleads to bring Kate, but the Countess refuses because of her origin. Nevertheless, Alec defeats the Countess's opposition and allows Kate to enter the Earl's family.
